Will CellTap work with my model ______ cell phone?

As long as your wireless phone has a standard 3 conductor 2.5 mm earpiece jack and accepts a generic 3rd party earpiece or headset, CellTap will interface with the phone. However, the audio CellTap provides is dependent on the phone itself.  If your particular cell phone does not provide sidetone, you will only hear the caller’s voice on the recording.

Can I talk on my handheld phone and record the conversation using a CellTap?

No, most phones detect the presence of anything plugged into the headset jack and immediately disable the phones microphone and speaker.

What if my phone does not have a 2.5 mm earpiece / headset jack?

Many phone manufacturers sell an adapter that allows connection of a 2.5 mm plug. You can often find these adapters where you purchased your phone or in electronics stores.

I just purchased one of your Cell Taps and the headset jack doesn’t seem to work. The only thing we can record is the incoming audio, not our own. What can we do?

Unfortunately, we are seeing this more often with the newer generation of cell phones. Many of them do not provide sidetone, which is your own audio at the headset output jack. If your audio is not present at the headset jack, it cannot be recorded as there is no other way we can access the audio on a cell phone. You might try the Cell Tap with another cell phone to see if it will be compatible. To test the phone first, connect your headset to the phone and listen carefully to the headset while you speak into the mic. If you can hear your own voice in the headset then the phone should work with our Cell Tap.
